PERANCANGAN KAMUS PERIBAHASA MANDARIN MENGGUNAKAN METODE PENCARIAN BINARY SEARCH BERBASIS WEB

Abstract

Mandarin idiom or in Mandarin language called cheng yu (成语), has a very old historical background along side with the history of Chinese civilization and the development of Mandarin language. Mandarin idioms are usually formed of four characters which formed into one united idioms. The four characters have a certain structure that should not be changed in order to avoid misdefine. Mandarin idiom averagely has an interesting origins story, either from mythology or factual historical references, or even from literary works from various dynasties in Chinese history. There are so many methods in learning Mandarin idioms, however one of the simplest methods is by using technology. In building this Mandarin idiom dictionary application, author use binary search methods for searching idiom. The technique used for collecting data is literature study which includes scientific books, scientific journals, theses and e-books. The technique used for analysing the system is object oriented which is Unified Modeling Language (UML). The technique used in designing the application is PHP programming language using HTMLPad 2008. The conclusion of this research is the Mandarin idiom dictionary application can be designed using binary search method and can be designed using PHP programming language. Keywords: Binary Search,Dictionary, Idiom, Mandarin, PHP
