PERANCANGAN APLIKASI IDIOM BAHASA INGGRIS PADA SMA NEGERI 7 PONTIANAK

Abstract

Technology is a double-edged sword. On the brighter side, we can use technology especially android as a learning tool to learn English idiom easily. On the other hand, it might be a cause of a health issues. Hence, we need to use technology wisely. Idiom is a phrase or expression that has a figurative meaning. Idiom is one of important part in learning English. However, English idioms are hard to understand by student in SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak. By using an android application as an educative learning tool for student to learn English idioms easily, this application has some useful features such as flashcard, and quiz. Flashcards are cards used for studying because it’s easy to use. Name of this application is Idiom Cards with system analysis method using Unified Modeling Language (UML) modeling tool. This app is designed using Android Studio Arctic Fox with Java as programming language and Firebase database. This study aims to design an English idiom android application. It is expected that this app will ease English learner especially student in SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak to learn English idioms. This app is used and tested by student in SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak to gain feedback of this app and conclusion from this research.     Keywords: Application, Learning Tool, English Idiom, Android
