Abstract

Expert system is a computer-based system that able to emulate the expert person in solving a particular problem to get the right solution. logical abilities an expert system is determined by an inference engine thats ability  for logical forward (forward chaining) or logical backward (backward chaining). This research aims to implement the backward chaining method in system diagnosis of heart disease. Health is a very precious thing for human beings, because anyone can experience health problems, especially heart health. Heart is a human-bodily organ which has an important role in human’s life, it is actually very dangerous if our heart has a problem regarding that there are a lot of deaths caused by heart disease. Heart disease sufferers in Indonesia are increasing year by year. Qualified medics are very limited, as the result common people tend to be unwilling to check their heart health. However, by the existence of recent computer technology development, such problem can be solved by making a system application. Therefore, the writer tries to make a system application which can diagnose a heart disease on human. This application is made using Backward Chaining inference method with programming language Visual Basic 6.0 and Microsoft Access 2007 as the database. This research will result an expert system application which is able to diagnose the heart disease on human with the outcomes in form of probability of the disease along with the  percentage, cause, as well as the solution. It is hoped by making this expert system aplication will help people especially the common people to get the information about the heart disease easily, as well as be able to do prediagnose on the heart disease.  Key words: Expert System, Backward Chaining, Heart, Disease
