APLIKASI KAMUS BAHASA INDONESIA KE BAHASA BATAK KARO BERBASIS ANDROID
Abstract
Increasingly advanced human life certainly cannot be separated from the role of technology such as smartphones in obtaining and managing information. Learning conventionally Batak Karo language through direct conversations with interlocutors will take a long time because it must be practiced continuously. Besides limited time and space, the knowledge or mastery of the interlocutor about the vocabulary in the Karo Batak language also varies. Karo Batak language learning using physical dictionaries is also difficult due to the limited number of dictionaries in circulation, which causes the learning process of the Batak Karo language to be ineffective. Therefore an Indonesian-language dictionary application was designed into an Android-based Batak Karo language to facilitate the learning process of the Batak Karo language.The author uses the method of collecting data through interviews, and library research. The analysis technique used is the Unified Modeling Language (UML) in modeling the system. In designing the database the author uses SQLite, and Android Studio as an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to design applications. This research resulted in an Indonesian-language dictionary application to the Android-based Batak Karo language. This application has a feature to translate words from Indonesian into the Batak Karo language and vice versa. It also allows users to see speech acts in the Batak Karo culture. This application also provides information about a brief history of the development of the Batak Karo tribe in Indonesia. In addition there is also a direct email link feature on the about menu that allows users to provide suggestions for this application. From the entire research process it can be concluded that with the application of the Indonesian dictionary to the Batak Karo language, it is expected to be able to overcome and minimize the problems that occur during the Batak Karo language learning process. In addition, additional vocabulary is needed in the dictionary and voice translate feature to support the learning process through this dictionary application.
